Asset tracking for Aannemingen Penninck
Lode Mannens, project leader at Aannemingen Penninck (Roeselare), is very pleased with the introduction of the BLE tags. His company recently purchased some 200 tags in combination with tracking units for vans and trucks. “Our technicians have already installed these tags on all of our equipment, ranging from vibrating plate compactors, drain plugs and road rollers to mini excavators. This makes it easy to determine the location of any missing equipment.”
The BLE tags provide an asset management solution for small worksite equipment. How often do drilling machines, stepladders, lasers, etc. vanish from the inventory? This is a common problem with shared worksite equipment. Simply installing a tag on the equipment makes it easy to determine who was the last person to use it.
There are two kinds of tags: a watertight tag or a flat tag that is easy to conceal thanks to its compact dimensions. Aannemingen Penninck opted for the watertight tag. “In road construction we are constantly exposed to the elements and therefore the tag had to be watertight. This is also a very practical system for drain plugs because we can easily check whether or not the drain plug has been removed in time.
Real time location of company vehicles
In addition the connected tracking unit offers a detailed display of the whereabouts of company vehicles. With just a few mouse clicks you get a global overview of the performance and the mileage and mobility allowances. 90% of the manual processing of performances is now automated, significantly relieving the administrative pressure within the company.
Lode confirms: “The tracking system in the vehicles registers both the hours worked and the mobility in terms of kilometres. These registrations are then linked with an automatic login to Checkin@Work. Moreover, it also gives us a detailed overview of the actual cost for the worksites. This way we have a transparent overview of the hours worked by construction workers, crane operators, trucks…”
